Will AI Replace Writers? I Asked AI.

If anything, ChatGPT and its successors will make your job easier.

Artificial intelligence could potentially replace some tasks that copywriters currently do, such as generating basic content or proofreading for grammar and spelling errors.

However, it is unlikely that AI will completely replace the need for human copywriters in the near future.

Writing involves more than just generating text or identifying errors. It also involves crafting a message and creating content that resonates with the target audience. This requires a deep understanding of language and the ability to understand and appeal to the needs and emotions of the reader.

While AI models may be able to generate text or identify errors, they do not have the same level of understanding and emotional intelligence as humans, and therefore are not able to fully replace the role of a writer.

If you read the above stanza and thought, “Gee Gorman, that sure as hell doesn’t sound like you, way to mail it in today,” you’d be correct.

That was ChatGPT, at 1:15 p.m. Central Time, on January 5, 2023, replying to my question: “Will AI replace writers in the workforce?”
