Reparations are the most fascinating set of policy updates that have been discussed in my lifetime. I think the solution(s) won’t be much of a “this-or-that” but a “yes-and.”
I think, crucially, the acknowledgement will be every bit as important — if not *more* important — than the financial component (which one would think would be multi-pronged and holistic in nature). As a nation, I think it’s important to craft a total, binding message that implicates us without reservation, and puts a stake in the ground that this is the beginning of a new era in the US. One where everyone has a seat at the table and the wrongs of the past can finally, and officially, be put in the past.
