Hi!

These are great questions.

  1. Articles take me somewhere between 30 minutes (“Sisi and the Ladder”, “The Difference Between Nice and Good”) and 20-ish hours (“How I Got Here”, “Everything Was Beautiful and All Of It Hurt”) to write … most take around 2 hours start-to-finish.
  2. When I first saw my follower count grow, all I could really think was “I guess it’s my turn.” I am still getting used to the new names and faces, but what makes me truly happy is how *warm* and *global* we are. I’m glad we’re not all Silicon Valley-types, or sports blog meatheads, or — frankly — even all *American.* (2a. I never publish to please the masses … in fact, once I’m finished spit-shining my backlog, I intend on taking time off.)
  3. Honestly, I liked Medium because it looks pretty. No other site I’ve written for, or at, is as aesthetically pleasing. It makes me happy to open it and read it and write on it. And so that’s why it stuck.

Keep writing. :)
